| FAQ's
Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about my book.
Q: Why did you create your main character, Lila, as a housewife? Isn't that a bit boring?
A: Lila is definitely not boring. She's very smart, and a little crazy at times. I was a housewife for many years and I wanted my readers to feel that it's not your career that makes you intriguing-it's YOU.
Q: Lila was a news reporter in her younger days. Why did you use that as her former career?
A: I've always been fascinated by reporters and love to read the newspaper everyday. I also thought it would give Lila the ability to solve a murder.
Q: You refer to "Catholic Girls' Night Out." What's that?
A: The four female friends, Lila, Patrice, Celia and Gen met through their childrens' Catholic Youth Group. When they drop their kids off at church, the women are able to have a night out for dinner, martinis or a little of both. Hence, the name.
Q: Why did you use illegal immigration in your plot?
A: This is a very important issue, both here in Arizona, and nationally. Therefore I thought it would be interesting and relevant to a wide range of readers.
Q: Isn't that a controversial and often unpopular issue?
A: Yes it is. But it's a very complex issue and I wanted my readers to see the human side of the migrants' stories.
Q: Do you believe the issue of illegal immigration will be solved in the near future?
A: Sadly, no. Because of Mexican drug cartels, violence in Mexico and along our border is escalating. Now many immigrants come to the United States not only to seek jobs, but to escape the violence.
