| Chapter 25
"What?" I shrieked. I shattered his alibi into a million pieces."
Garcia shook his head. "Not so, Lila."
"What about how he left the shower running while he snuck out of the hotel?"
"Shower? What's this about a shower?" Randy asked.
"Lila, watch it. I don't want everything leaked," Garcia warned.
I gave Garcia a look, then turned to Randy. "Let's just say the Bate's Hotel in Psycho isn't the only hotel with strange things going on with their showers."
Garcia shook his head.
"And then Jerry had the nerve to tell room service he had Alzheimer's."
"Uh, Lila," Garcia murmured, "Jerry really does have Alzheimer's. I checked with his doctor. He's in the early stages."
I walked around the table and stood next to Garcia. "So he forgets a few things. That doesn't mean he couldn't commit murder. How do you know he didn't sneak back to Scottsdale and kill Deanne?"
"Because Jerry's business associate in Tucson said they were together that night. The two buy cars, cheap, take them across the border and sell them for parts."
"Yeah? Well I'll bet this so-called business partner rates on a Scale of Shady down around negative ten. Am I right?"
Garcia let out a deep breath. "He's not what you'd call Chamber of Commerce material."
"Any chance of giving this business partner a follow-up interview?" Randy asked.
"Well," Garcia squirmed in his seat, "seems he's down in Mexico on business...indefinitely."
Pounding my fist on the table, I shouted, "I rest my case!"
